About KinG Pen
Hailing from Lancaster, CA comes the West Coast’s most
rapidly-emerging Kingdom Hip Hop songwriter and performer,
KinG Pen. A devout follower of Jesus Christ and active in
Ministry, KinG Pen is also a lover of the Hip Hop culture that
raised him. A seasoned recording artist, KP embodies the soul
and spirit of Rap’s “Golden Age”, while still effortlessly navigating
today’s music scene; all while maintaining his Faith in God as the
driving force behind the Message in his music.
Early in his career, KinG Pen was featured in popular Hip Hop publications such as XXL Magazine and
AllHipHop for his thunderous delivery, witty wordplay and aggressive style of rap. Having drawn comparisons to
legendary emcees Ice Cube and Scarface because of his methodical flow, storytelling ability, and presence, KP
is humbled as they both top the list of his influences. Songwriting since a teen, KinG Pen has achieved a
veteran’s presence in the booth. He has also developed a shooter’s touch at live performance. This is evident as
he has graced the same stages as legendary acts The Game, Cypress Hill, Slum Village and Talib Kweli at
historic venues in Southern CA; including The Roxy Theatre, The Viper Room and The Observatory, just to
name a few. More recently, KinG Pen toured the country with acclaimed Billboard-charting recording artist Lil
Durk on his Remember My Name Tour. Following that run – an independent artist in his own right – KinG Pen
organized and executed his own nationwide tour underneath his former company banner, Create Distribute
Collect, in partnership with Maybach Music Group (MMG) recording artist, Gunplay.
In 2015, KinG Pen’s world came to a complete halt, as he experienced the untimely passing of his father
due to a massive heart attack at the young age of 52. It was at this time, his life began to spiral out of control.
Not knowing how to cope with such devastating loss, KP turned to alcohol and other damaging substances to
process his grief. He also began looking for love in all the wrong places, acting out promiscuously with no intent
of forming lasting relationships with the women he courted. This behavior led to a child being born to him out of
wedlock. To make matters worse, KinG Pen – at 350 lbs – was morbidly obese, battling high blood pressure
which required many different medications.
In 2017, KinG Pen rededicated his life to Christ, and joined his current place of Worship, Living Faith
Cathedral. Serving underneath Bishop Darrell Dorris and Pastor Roshunda Dorris, KinG Pen started as a
member, was elevated to Deacon, then to Young Adult Department co-Director [alongside his wife Shannon,
whom he wed in 2018], and now he serves as President of the Men’s Department. More recently, KinG Pen was
licensed as a Minister where he continues to represent God’s Kingdom in Faithful service. In 2018, KinG Pen
put the world on notice of his commitment to spreading The Good News by sharing a testimony of God’s
transforming power in his own life by releasing his first Kingdom Hip Hop album titled, God Bars.
In addition to his work in Ministry, KinG Pen also serves as a small business-owner in his community;
having founded the full-spectrum recording studio CDC Studios in his Lancaster’s famed Blvd District for
independent and signed recording artists from the Antelope Valley. Furthermore, KP is an educator in his
hometown, now serving as the Business Teacher for the Antelope Valley Union High School District
(AVUHSD) of which he graduated as a teen. Adding to his list of professional responsibilities, KinG Pen also
serves on two commissions in local government; as he presides as Commissioner for the City of Lancaster’s
Planning Commission and Measure LC Committee.
Though KinG Pen had undergone a Spiritual transformation, he remained wildly unhealthy from a
physical standpoint. In 2019, time he made the conscious decision to begin prioritizing his health. KP
completely changed his diet and began exercising daily. Before the end of 2020, he had lost 96 lbs. In early
2021 he embarked on a new journey, committing to run at least 100 miles every month. Present day, KinG Pen
has lost a total of 150 lbs, he no longer suffers from high blood pressure, has crossed the 2,100-mile mark and
continues to honor his monthly commitment of 100 miles minimum.
KinG Pen is more than a rapper. He is a husband, father, teacher, community leader, mentor and public
servant. His main goal in music is to produce non-explicit, meaningful content for all ages and walks of life that
honors God and builds his audience up Spiritually, emotionally and financially. King Pen works to distinguish
himself as a Man of God who cherishes rap music and works tirelessly at perfecting his craft. Since God Bars
the album, KinG Pen has released three more projects. The full discography can be found above on this website. His latest Kingdom Hip Hop release, an outstanding body of work titled Well Done The
Mixtape is available for purchase and streaming on all platforms.
